ReMap 2

locus athens, in collaboration with Remap2, is suggesting a new mapping of Athens. Bespoke bikes designed by a selection of Greek artists will offer an eco-friendly option for viewing art around the city. The bicycles will be exhibited in a site-specific installation within Remap but on request they will become mobile – works of art gliding through the city. Biennial-loving bikers will be able to pedal down to all the off-site projects in Kerameikos, and even, for those adventurous enough, to the seafront of Faliro to the Biennial itself. locus athens will also offer a map with all the necessary pit-stops that accompany serious art-viewing (Egyptian falafel, Greek cheese pies and of course Chinese noodles etc).

Biking through down-town Athens will allow for a different pace of viewing and integrating with the city itself (whilst also allowing for a healthy work out), putting the medium at the core of the message itself.
