locus athens, a nomadic non-profit arts organization, was founded in 2004 with the aim of exploring the juncture between public space in Athens and contemporary art.
Latest Project:
MARX
With “Marx”, Olaf Nicolai pointedly poses the question of the course of time, its measurement and meaning in both physical and philosophical terms. The film ends with a quote by Danish poet Inger Christensen: “Nobody knows in spite of everything whether the universe is counting backwards while we count faithfully forward.”
Tavros Space
After years of curating a constellation of projects in and around Athens, locus athens is exploring a new format: founding a home in the area of TAVROS. Our non-profit space, opening in October 2019, is now the springboard for our need to respond to the social and political circumstances around us, by exploring notions of democracy, equality and ecology whilst looking to address these issues head on through dialogue, listening and learning.
